ACOG (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists) definition - medical term
The American
College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists is an organization concerned with the
quality of OB/Gyn practice in the U.S. It is called "a cog."
The members of ACOG are "Women's Health Care Physicians." ACOG is (in their own
words) "the nation's leading group of professionals providing health care for women.
As a private, voluntary, nonprofit organization, ACOG:
Serves as a strong advocate for quality health care for women.
Maintains the highest standards of clinical practice and continuing education
of its members.
Promotes patient education and stimulating patient understanding of, and
involvement in, medical care.
Increases awareness among its members and the public of the changing issues
facing women's health care."
